HEAT SEAL APPLICATION
SUBLIMATED PATCHES

FOR USE ON:

Cotton, Cotton/Poly Blends, 100% Polyester, Fleece and Wool

DOES NOT WORK ON:

Leather, Nylon, some types of Coatings on Athletic Mesh and Safety Gear

Problem:

The patch isn’t sticking.

1.) Try letting it cool a bit more. If the patch is still hot when you’re testing adhesion, it could come off before it has time to cool enough to hold tight. Please wait at least 10 minutes for the patch to cool. This allows it to set before you test adhesion.

2.) Check your heat and pressure settings. Are they in line with the recommended temperatures for the fabric type you’re using? Some sporty polyesters, such as baseball uniforms, have a very high temperature setting needed to get the heat seal to properly adhere.

3.) Pro tip: Try preheating your fabric for a few seconds before adding the patch. Sometimes, this can make all the difference in the world.

Problem:

The patch/fabric is discoloring and burning

1.) Use a back heat press. We always recommend using a back heat press, where the heat is only on the bottom and behind the patch. That way, it's closer to the heat seal, and won't hurt your emblem.

2.) Check your cover sheet! Barriers such as teflon or silicone can make a big difference. Have you tried using a silicone pad between the heat source and your patch? This can protect from burning.

3.) Experiment with application times. You could be keeping a patch under a press for too long. Try reducing the time and see how the application fares. Please reach out if you need similar product samples, we’d be happy to send you some for free that you could test to get the timing down perfect.
